Bastrop May 2018

Debi Goode has sent her pictures and write up for this ride.

Cushman enthusiasts began arriving at the home of Richard and Betty Kesselus Thursday afternoon, May 10, 2018. We enjoyed an “Early-Early Bird Dinner at Cedar’s Mediterranean Grill in Bastrop.

Early bird dinner at Cedars Mediterranean Grill.

We started the Friday ( May 11, 2018) ride with assorted donuts and coffee before heading out of Bastrop through Tahitian Village and a scenic ride along the Colorado River into Buescher State Park.

We rode the back roads to Winchester and ate lunch at Murphy’s Steakhouse. (Mmmm!) We rode into Smithville for a gas stop, back through Buescher State Park into Bastrop State Park and returned to the Kesselus home.

That gave us enough time to prepare a salad, side dish or dessert for the FAMOUS Early Bird Dinner of fried fish, onion rings, salads and enough desserts to keep the whole city awake for 2 days!

Saturday, May 12 we enjoyed donuts, cinnamon buns and coffee before heading out for Lockhart via back roads. We rode into Lockhart and ate BBQ at Kreuz Market. From Lockhart we rode to Rosanky and back to Bastrop.

Saturday night was a light meal at a local ‘farm to table’ restaurant.

Special thanks to

Several riders enjoyed a breakfast ride Sunday morning before heading home. Amarillo May 2018

Thursday, May 3, 2018 the weather was great and the Cushman lovers began to gather in Amarillo at the Oasis RV Park. The Amarillo group provides a great ride. Thanks for the event.

The first order of business was supper at Abuelos. 17 attended the Early Bird dinner.

Friday’s destination was Russel’s Truck Stop and Museum at Endee, NM.

11 riders left Oasis RV Park at 9:00am.

Brief stop to have their picture made at the Midway Point on Route 66.

Russel’s Truck Stop was good food, good service, with Mr. Russel himself visiting with our group. The museum has extensive items to explore.

That night the group had barbecue at Dyer’s.

Saturday morning’s ride was to the Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument.

After lunch in Fritch, the group rode to the Sizemore RV museum located in Amarillo.

The full story will be in the upcoming newsletter. Thanks to Belinda Beck for the photos.
