Aransas Pass/Corpus Christi Ride— November 18-20, 2021

Ride participants began gathering in the Aransas Pass and Corpus Christi area Thursday, November 18, 2021. We met up at Mickies at Hampton Landing for the Early-Bird Dinner where we enjoyed calamari, bacon-wrapped shrimp, crab cakes, fish tacos, shrimp, fried fish and plenty of sides.  Friday morning we met in the host hotel’s parking lot for the Rider’s meeting prior to riding to Rockport and on to Goose Island State Park where we were once again amazed by “The BIG TREE.”  From Goose Island we rode to Fulton Beach for lunch at a local favorite…Charlotte Plummers.  Following lunch we took a leisurely path back to Aransas Pass.

A big thank you to John and Barbara Allbright for hosting dinner and snacks at their lovely home situated on the canal in Aransas Pass. We enjoyed appetizers, beans and cornbread and an assortment of desserts before watching a glorious coastal sunset.

Saturday morning we assembled in the hotel parking lot and departed via ferry toward Port Aransas on Mustang Island and a tour of the beach. We then proceeded to Padre Island and Bob Hall Pier for a beach photo. We ate lunch at Doc’s on the inter-coastal canal, then rode to Corpus Christi for a photo op in front of the USS LEXINGTON. We drove over the BIG bridge in Corpus Christi (whew!) before stopping for ice cream in Ingleside then on to Aransas Pass. For our last evening on the coast we gathered at The Fisherman’s Daughter for good conversation and friendship.

A BIG thank you to Homer Schilling for leading the rides; to Don Henry for coordinating the Ride; to Jerry Krenek for driving chase; John and Barbara Allbright for hosting at their home and to everyone else who came: Don & Ann Reed, James & Jane Press, Michelle (Mick) and RJ Hudson, Ricky, Marlene and Kaile Hudson, Tommy & Debi Goode, Martin Stafford, Ray Powers, Richard & Betty Kesselus, Larry & Ginger Freeze, Paul & Mary Kruska and Tom Roddy (in Memory of Pete Roddy).

Thank you to Debi Goode for the write up and photos.
