West Texas Area Fun Day Sept. 2025

Roy Stanley has sent these pictures and Don Henry has added names. The full report will be in the next newsletter.

Next event will be the 43rd State meet in Paris, Tx – October 1-4, 2025

Judy and Don Henry, Jack Hadlock. Bill Tate, Eric Underwood, Don Paige, Sean Irby, and daughter Jill Hobbs. This year’s West Texas Fair and Rodeo Parade was iffy with rain starting around 7 am, but the rain lighten up and we were able to complete the parade before a good crowd.

Afterward we enjoyed lunch at Cotton Patch with Roy and Joellen Stanley 😍joining us along with Judy’s brother Tommy Homer and Sean’s daughter’s family and Mary Tate. A special treat was Jill’s daughter Cheyenne Hobbs, who just moved back from studying in Scotland joined them for lunch. Everyone is welcomed at a Cushman event!

No afternoon ride due to the chance of rain.

Thanks to Roy and Don for their information!

Barbara Murphy, TCC #143 has Passed

According to Facebook, Barbara celebrated her 80th birthday on June 29. Ross married Barbara on December 16, 1966. They had 2 daughters, Jackie Gregston and Tracy Hicks.

Ross and Barbara joined in 1986. He began to be instrumental in the business of “just a little scooter club” in 1992 when he became an Area Director. From there, he served as President 1992-96. There were state meets in Cleburne, Marshall, and Sequin under his leadership. The club by-laws were drafted and voted into place on June 5, 1993.

Barbara was awarded the Founder’s Award in 2017. Her name appears on many articles in the newsletters plus her skillful hands made many beautiful and comfortable scooter seats.

Barbara died on July 25, 2025.

Our condolences to her daughters and their families. May we all keep sweet memories of a wonderful lady.

Don Stewart, TCC #822/#1689 has Passed

Don Stewart bought the first Cushman for his son, Mike, in approximately 1963. Mike, TCC # 312, was joined by Martin Stafford, TCC #269, and Raymond Love, TCC #839, to ride the pasture roads around the Midway Community in Dawson County, Tx.

By 1988 Mike had found the Texas Cushman Club and began to invite his dad, Don, and then Raymond to “come see what I’m doing”. The Cushman people became extended family for Don and his wife Martha. Their shop and home was open for many West Texas area meetings.

Don, Mike, Raymond and Chrysti attended many Cushman events where they rode and made lifelong friends.

Don and Martha remained members of the club even when their health restricted their activities.

They were both good friends and we will miss him.
