Today’s ride went from Aransas Pass to the Ferry into Port Aransas; to Bob Hall Pier in Corpus Christi. We drove over the Big bridge to the USS LEXINGTON for a photo op. After a short rest, we continued onto Annaville TX where we drove through the community. Then on to Portland for our traditional ice cream stop. Then on to Aransas Pass to complete our 109.1 mile ride! A great time was had by all. Thanks to Richard Kesselus for leading the Friday ride. And to Tommy Goode and Tom Roddy for leading Saturday’s ride. Thanks to Jerry Krenek and Diane Hybner for driving chase both days.

Thanks to Debi Goode for pictures and commentary.

IMPORTANT Sturgis, SD update

NEW CONTACT: GENE PERRY (972)768-1081

PLEASE CONTACT GENE IF YOU ARE GOING TO Sturgis, SD.

Original plans:

July 18-20, 2024– Sturgis, North Dakota –Had several requests to return to Surgis for 3 days of great rides. This is the date that seemed to work best, as its between CCOA National meet and the big bike rally in Sturgis. This may be the last big “Hurrah” for some of us and I hope the ones of us that are able will make plans to be there. There are plenty of motels and RV spots to stay and I may not decide until later whether I want to RV or not. Call me if you have any questions. Don Henry (325) 665-5716

NOW::::::Now, Gene Perry will be stepping in for Don Henry. Don was hurt from a fall ( and you know it is serious when Don has to stay home and heal). Gene needs to know if you are going.

Gene’s first Cushman trip was with James Perry to Sturgis in 2015. He was cameraman then but caught the Cushman bug. This time he wants to go ride!

I have heard Mick and R.J. Hudson and Joe and Joyce Faltinek have plan to go. So, make your call to Gene and get that scooter ready to ride some beautiful country.

Newsletter Time! July 2024 Issue

The newsletter is being printed and here is a glance at the front page. All the State Meet news plus articles about the spring rides.

BIG CHANGE!

The Sturgis South Dakota ride will have leadership change. Don Henry has been injured while in Tennessee. He has injured his back. Please plan to still go because it is a wonderful place to ride. Richard Kesselus, Tommy Goode, and RJ and Mick Hudson have indicated they are looking forward to being there.

All State Meet info will be available on the website soon.

Joyce Lynn Pearce Obituary

We are sad to announce that on May 26, 2024, at the age of 78, Joyce Lynn Pearce of Alvin, Texas, born in Galveston, Texas passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

ALVIN – Mrs. Joyce Lynn (Axelson) Pearce passed from this life Sunday afternoon, May 26, 2024, in Houston.

Born January 19, 1946, in Galveston, Mrs. Pearce had been a resident of Alvin for 11 years, previously of Pearland. Joyce was a vibrant member of the Alvin Senior Center, she was known for her warmth, kindness, and active participation in community events and she delighted in the challenge and satisfaction of completing intricate jigsaw puzzles. One of Joyce’s greatest joys was flying with her beloved husband in their Cessna. Together, they soared through the skies, embracing the freedom and exhilaration that only flying can bring.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ruvel (Dickson) Axelson, Sr.; brother, William Edward Axelson, Jr.; sisters, Gloria Shaw, Opal Kimling, Carroll Hartley.

Survivors include her loving husband of almost 16 years, Johnny Robert Pearce; son, Gerald T. Wythe of Sugar Land; daughter, Dena Galletti and husband, Patrick of Sugar Land; step-son, John Pearce and fiancé, Malissa of Friendswood; step-daughter, Amy Montenegro and husband, Aldo of Pearland; sister, Wanda Cotton of Hitchcock; 9 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2024, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Pastor Jim Daniel officiating.

And my favorite :

Joyce Pearce and Chrysti Love, Snyder State Meet 2017

Joyce won the grand prize for the drawing. I had created this fleece blanket with photos of the 40 state meet patches. She said the sweetest words to me “ I don’t think the picture will be big enough to hold my smile!”

Our condolences to Johnny, her friends and family.
