2020 CCOAinvite

TEXAS CUSHMAN CLUB SAYS “Y’ALL COME”

In this year of tragedy and disappointment we are just not getting to feel the wind in our face.  Meet after meet is being canceled.  A year of planning and preparation down the drain.  Disappointment for all in Nebraska after years of work is tough to swallow.  For us in Texas our move to change our meet date to the Fall may give us all a chance to do what we like.  Riding and showing our handy work may not be completely lost.   Our State Meet has always welcomed all Cushman members and in this year, 2020, we want to especially welcome CCOA members to join with us in Wichita Falls, Texas, for our state meet which will be held October 14th  through 17th.  Being familiar with the normal CCOA schedule our schedule is a little different but we will adjust some to make it familiar. Starting Monday October 12th, Columbus Day, we will plan to have rides Monday afternoon, Tuesday and Wednesday. Registration will start Wednesday afternoon. Our Show scooter judging does not have all the many classes at the National but there are classes that fit all scooters. This will get all who have labored getting a show scooter ready a place to enter it in a contest prior to the 2021 National.  That said there is another opportunity to have some scooters in a contest with our 100 Year Club which is described below.

In the next CCOA magazine there will be a complete schedule of events and early registration so keep and eye out for that information.  You can always go to our web site to get the best up date on what we are up to.  https://texascushmanclub.com

What’s Different?  We do most everything that is done at the Nationals plus a few extras. First, we have a 100-year club (the age of the owner and the age of the scooter must add up to 100). When the club was started not everyone was eligible but, as time rolled on most any of us and any original scooter qualified. The scooter must be all Cushman except for some safety items.  There is a small club membership fee if you are interested in taking part. The scooters are judged best original, best restored, and highest number of years.  There is a short ride for all the old scooters.  We also enjoy a Scooter pull (like a tractor pull). We have our own sled and several classes, Stock and Modified Huskey engines as well as an unlimited class.

Wichita Falls is almost in Oklahoma, I’m sure Don Reed and a few other Okies might like that, it is somewhat centered in the US and maybe not any farther that some who would have traveled to Grand Isle.  So, if you are hankering to ride or show off your work  “Y’all Come”. Watch for a complete rendering of our meet in the next edition of CCOA Magazine
