Jim Wadlow, TCC #2 has passed away.

It is with a sad heart that I report of another founding member of our Texas club has passed. Jim Wadlow died April 20, 2026. I learned of his passing at the CCoA National meet in Abilene in June. This is a gleaning from past records to represent Jim’s life.

Jill’s name and service is also included. She was a dedicated wife and served faithfully along with him.

Jill and Jim Wadlow 2022
  • James Wadlow, a dedicated member of the Texas Cushman Club (TCC), passed away on April 20, 2026. He would have celebrated his 94th birthday on June 14.

In 1962, Jim and Jill moved to Texas due to his job, settling in Arlington for 37 years. In 1999, they relocated to Burleson, just 20 miles from Cleburne, where the Texas Cushman Club was founded.

Jim and Jill Wadlow’s anniversary was June 3, with 2026 marking 70 years of their marriage. They were born in Nebraska and met after high school. Jim worked at the Cushman factory before going to college, while his father, Jack Wadlow, retired from Cushman in 1973 after 28 years of service. Jim and Jill married in 1956.

Article from CCoA Magazine Sept/Oct 1995

The inaugural Texas State Cushman Meet was held in June 1983 in Cleburne. Jim and Jill attended and were riding double on a  1962 All State scooter. Randolph Garner was elected as the first president of the newly-formed Texas Cushman Club. Jill served as Secretary and Treasurer for 12 years. Jim served as President of the Texas Club from 1987 to 1990 and President of CCOA from 1997 to 1998.

They had one daughter, Jeannette Luman, who passed away on May 1, 2011, at the age of 54.

The Burleson News-Express, Vol. 1, Issue 19, published on May 4, 2026, provided an insightful account of Jim’s exceptional service to his community.

“The City of Burleson mourns the loss of a beloved pillar of its community. Former Councilmember Jim Wadlow passed away on Monday, April 20, leaving behind a legacy of dedicated public service, thoughtful leadership, and a reputation as a true gentleman.

The City of Burleson extends its deepest condolences to Jim’s family and friends. While his absence will be deeply felt, his legacy lives on in the parks where children play, the library where neighbors gather, and the very standards of civility that define the city he cherished. Jim Wadlow wasn’t just a resident of Burleson; he played a pivotal role in shaping its very essence.”

With all respect, we will remember Jim’s service and dedication to our club. A friend and leader who worked and shared his love of Cushmans with all who were acquainted with him. His knowledge and passion will be missed.
