Richard Miner’s Accident

As Webmaster, I have not been inclined to post health posts about our members. I care, it is just personal information I don’t think belongs here.

But this accident happened at the National Meet and so many have been concerned that I am posting this. I used Sue Miner’s info from her texts.

On Thursday (June 13, 20190 of the National Meet in Paris, TX Richard Miner had a bad scooter accident. He was Air Flighted to Medical City Burn and Trauma Center in Plano.

On Saturday, he had the first surgery to do skin grafts on the road rash he suffered. There were ribs and a collar bone broken with a multitude of road rash areas. Due to the skin grafting,  the risk of infection was very high plus a risk for pneumonia due to the broken ribs.

On Monday, he was moved by ambulance to Memorial Herman, Houston. On Tuesday, Richard had another surgery to clean up more of the road rash but no new skin grafts.

On Wednesday, he was moved out of ICU. This morning, Saturday, June 21,

Sue sent a message that Richard had a “good day”. Sue thinks they have found a pain medication that is the best for him. He has a 24 hour nurse with him.

Please send your cards to this address: 37 Champion Villa Dr., Houston, TX 77069. They need your encouragement and prayers.

Sweetheart

2019 March Carmine Ride

2019 CARMINE RIDES

CARMINE, TEXAS

The weather cooperated with us, allowing both Friday’s and Saturday’s rides to proceed uninterrupted. Friday’s ride took us southeast into Washington and Austin counties, arriving at The Kenney Store for lunch as we did last yesr. We were not disappointed—the hot meals provided a welcome respite from the cold weather. The “store” has developed quite a reputation as a local meeting place for musicians to gather to pick and sing. They also host many well-known C&W bands on weekends. We then hightailed it back to Carmine as direct as possible due to the cold weather. I’m pretty sure Ben Sargent will not forget this ride back. It took the rest of the evening to thaw him out!

We had our traditional Saturday morning breakfast feast in the garage before leaving for a ride through Fayette and Washington counties along Scenic FM 390—a favorite route for motorcycle groups to practice their skills at twisty, winding roadways. We stopped in Burton for gas, and then proceeded on to Independence for another gas and rest stop at Lueckemeyer’s general store. Our destination was, of course, to eat lunch! So, we headed down to the Brenham Airport where we ate lunch at the recently re-opened Southern Flyer Diner. The food did not disappoint! The place was just like it was before closing 2 years ago, with a malt shop atmosphere, complete with waitresses in poodle skirts.

Time to begin!

From the “Calendar of Events” tab:

March 15th & 16th, 2019 – 13th Annual Carmine Ride–Carmine,TX. Come join us in Carmine, Texas (about 20 miles west of Brenham on US 290) this spring! Here’s what we have planned. The rides start at 9:30 from the Pecan Grove Inn parking lot on both Friday and Saturday mornings, so those coming from a distance need to arrive on the 14th to make the 9:30 AM start time on the 15th. The Carmine Chamber of Commerce has asked us to park our scooters in front of the Depot Museum when we get back from Friday’s ride. They want to attract visitors & townspeople to the ribbon-cutting ceremony that afternoon. The meet will be at the Pecan Grove Inn B & B, 233 Augsburg Street in Carmine, http://www.pecangroveinn.com. We (yes, that’s my wife and I) have six rooms. Call James or Jane Press at (281) 433-8845 to book or for further information

Happy Valentines Day from TCC

As a surprise, a club roster has been printed with the membership of 2018-2019.

The money was raised by the auction at the State meet. It will be mailed with the State magazine which is at the printers now.

G and C Printers of Bastrop created the list from Chrysti Love’s club membership. Richard Kesselus and Tommy Goode located this business.

IF you find an incorrect entry, let Chrysti know.
